Hunchback of Notre Dame, The
March 16, 2010
|
IMDB rating: 6.40 Plot: In 15th century Paris, Clopin the puppeteer tells the story of Quasimodo, the misshapen gentle-souled bell ringer of Notre Dame, who was nearly killed as a baby by Claude Frollo, the Minister of Justice. But Frollo was forced by the Archdeacon of Notre Dame to raise Quasimodo as his own. Now a young man, Quasimodo is hidden from the world by Frollo in the belltower of the cathedral. But during the Festival of Fools, Quasimodo, cheered on by his gargoyle friends Victor, Hugo, and Laverne, decides to take part in the festivities, where he meets the lively gypsy girl Esmeralda and the handsome soldier Phoebus. The three of them find themselves ranged against Frollo’s cruelty and his attempts to destroy the home of the gypsies, the Court of Miracles. And Quasimodo must desperately defend both Esmeralda and the very cathedral of Notre Dame. |

I think I have BDD, but nobody understands…? (Long, but if you're up for answering this, I appreciate it)?
Basically, I am a 15 year old girl who has never been happy with her appearance. I have never thought of myself as beautiful, or really even pretty, and even when I was 7 I wanted blonde, straight hair like my younger sister.
I have done some research on BDD, and I found that sufferers normally focus on one minor or imagined flaw… if this is the case with me, then my flaws that I obsess over are:
my skin - I’ve had spots for about 4 1/2 years now
my curly hair - I hate, hate HATE this
my nose - which is very big for a girl, and has a bump on it
I can honestly say that I am obsessed with my appearance, which I suppose makes me vain, but how can I be vain when I hate how I look? I mean, I avoid having my photo taken, usually offering to take it instead, I either always check my appearence in mirrors or avoid them completely and if I hear the word "spots" or "acne" at school I feel like everyone in the room is staring at me, even after I have checked and found that they are actually not. Often, I don’t want to go out in case I have to have my picture taken and on the rare occasion that a boy shows any interest in me I always assume that it’s for a dare. I’m the kind of girl who - on the rare occasion that her facebook pic is actually of her, as opposed to a flower or a group photo - will take 20 photos of herself to put as a facebook pic, then delete all but two, and then change the pic after an hour anyway. It doesn’t help that I am not that photogenic, so whan even I can say that I look OK, someone will take a picture, and I seem to be starting at the Hunchback of Notre Dame. A big turning point for me was when a little while ago when I was in the changing rooms of my local New Look, glanced in the mirror and the side view of my nose made me - no exaggeration - nearly vomit from shame. I just couldn’t believe my own ugliness.
My obsession with my looks and fear of uglines is not helped by my peers, who appear to fall into two categories:
My friend Lily who jokingly says that I have a "bulbous nose", a boy in my class called Nick who tells me I am the spitting image of Susan Boyle and used to call me "bubble nose" and my friend Kelly who - when we play argue - likes to tell me that I look like SuBo as well.
AND
My friend Ameera who, if while in a rare mood when I feel like talking about this I tell her about feeling ugly, tells me with a sigh and a shake of the head that I am being silly, and Lily who when in a sensible mood gives me the same flippantly unsympathetic reaction.
Basically I feel that my ugliness is either being cruelly rubbed in my face or is being denied without the smallest thought that perhaps I’m not just being silly or that people’s comments are not helping me at all.
So, firstly, do you think that I maybe have BDD, or am I just vain and melodramatic?
And secondly, what do I do? I am so miserable that I spend hours a week looking up ways to change my appearence, all to no avail
As well as being told that SuBo and me could be sisters, some of my friends also insist that I look like Kelly Brook:
http://i.thisislondon.co.uk/i/pix/2009/0 1/kelly-brook-judge-500×692.jpg
:I don’t agree
I think that all girls at your age have some kind of confidence problem, but this is way too much. I have the same problem, mild BDD. You might even have it worse then me. For me, if I get a zit, I get to the point where I won’t go to school. If I feel fat, I wear every piece of baggy clothing I can find. I’m obsessed with makeup, basically spending my small fortune on Sephora! Its not a good thing. I have a friend who had BDD and she became severely depressed because of it. You should seek help because this is a disorder. Its not about being vain, its neurological. You could be the most gorgeous girl and have BDD. Its a brain disorder, nothing physical. You just have to remember that appearance is only skin deep. I think a psychologist would help you discover this. Anyway, you should get help before it develops into something bigger.

It sounds a lot like In the Heat of the Night (1967), but I don’t remember anything about a bee.
If it wasn’t In the Heat of the Night it sounds like it was a re-make of it.
The original had Sydney Poitier, Rod Steiger and contained the famous line, "They Call Me Mr. Tibbs"!!
Plot Summary: Virgil Tibbs is a Philadelphia Homicide detective home to see his mother in the rural south. He is arrested on general principles when a rich white man is found dead, and Tibbs’ being Black is enough reason. When his identity is established, his boss offers his services to the small town sheriff who has little experience with murder investigations. As the two policemen learn how to work together, they begin to make progress on the crime.

3. Julie & Julia- Not a bad film but probably one I won’t watch again for a while.

1. The Hurt Locker - I related a lot to Jeremy Renner’s character about why we do the things we do.
2. The Road - I am fan of Cormac McCarthy and loved this movie. Some parts of the film left me feeling quite disturbed because I wondered How many of us would be like them?
3. Up - I have to agree with you there. The first 10 minutes are sheer brilliance. Fantastic movie.
My Bottom of the Barrel list include:
1. Angels and Demons - Although Ron Howard has Cinderella Man under his belt I absolutely hated this movie. None of the actors had chemistry with each other.
2. 2012 - Bad graphics, bad acting and ridiculous dialogue, enough said.
3. Couples Retreat - I like Vince Vaughn but yet again another failure from him.

IMDB rating: 7.90 Plot: The major sub-plot circles around the youngest Griffin, Stewie, who has a near-death experience at a pool when a lifeguard chair falls on him, but he survives. After having a vision of being in Hell, he decides to change his ways, but this doesn’t last long. While watching television, he and Brian spot a man that looks like Stewie. Brian is convinced that he is Stewie’s real father, until Stewie learns that the man is actually himself as an adult, taking a vacation from his own time period. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut OR Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story?
South Park is definitely better and the movie is hilarious no matter how many times I watch it. I don’t find Family Guy funny anymore, just lame. The first two or thee seasons were good but now their just using anything to be funny when it’s not. The movie was also kind of boring and like the third time I watched it I didn’t laugh at anything.
wtf, why are you reporting me ? this was a legitimate question. i can give you a reason to report me if you want.

the show family is as funny as south park but the south park movie is better then that movie about Stewie Griffin. thats wut i think.

I agree. I like the Family guy shows, but the movie was a bit long and boring.
South Park has worn itself out with me a little bit. But back when it was new and fresh it was the greatest thing I’d ever seen in controvercial prime time TV. They even got away with using the S word in the "words of curse" episode.
I think it’s not really the same kind of show as the family guy though.
It would be kinda like comparing The Wonder years to Friends.

Brother Bear 2
January 9, 2010
|
IMDB rating: 6.00 Plot: The bonds of true friendship and love are powerful enough to persist through even the most extreme circumstances, but can even the strongest bond endure when a young man and a young woman are split apart by the spirits? Since being turned into a bear as punishment for his insensitivity in Brother Bear, Kenai has managed to find true happiness and a compelling sense of purpose in his new relationship with his adopted brother Koda. But when Kenai’s old friend Nita prepares for her wedding day with another man, the spirits send a sign indicating that a strong connection still exists between Kenai and Nita. The tribe Shaman suggests that the two join forces in a ritual to sever the bond between them and Nita, newly endowed with the ability to communicate with animals, seeks out Kenai in the woods. Even as the two friends resolutely journey to break the connection between them, the inescapable bond between them strengthens and threatens to disrupt not only Nita’s upcoming marriage, but the special relationship between Kenai and Koda. In the end, destiny may require that each of the three choose between his or her happiness and the happiness of the other two. Like its predecessor Brother Bear, Brother Bear 2 features lush animation; a nice blend of action, suspense, and comedy; and a powerful message. (Ages 3 - 12) |

Why parents love the younger son and not the older daughter?
I’m 50 yrs old have 2 children my daughter is 20 my son is 17…I had my daughter at 30.My mother hated me after my brother who is now 48 was born it was as if she disowned me…She mentally, physically and emotionally abused me.Little did I know at a young age that my mother had a still born boy in 1956.When I was born I was treated great but after my brother came along I was 8 yrs. old I was thrown aside by her…to make a long story short…When my father became ill in 1996 he also let go of me (without my knowledge) turned all assets and everything he owned into my brothers name I rec’d nothing nor did my children. I rec’d 10 years of counseling to deal with being a real mother to my 2 children. It still hurts so bad that my parents didn’t love me and after all the counseling I still don’t know why and they are both passed now. My brother and I have no contact since 2000. I went to see my mother when she was dying (my daughter had said she wanted to see me) my brother called the police and tried to have me arrested for trespassing..Come to find out my father had deeded the property to him in 1996. I have been in and out of counseling for about 25 years. How do I end this hurt and why would you give to one and not the other? I mean love and caring. My biggest question is why did my mother hate me so? Thank you in advance for your advice.
It goes to show how sick minded people can be. That was their issue, not yours.

i feel for you. my mother too was a victim of parental favoritisim….. it hurts.
your brother is probably a schycopath…
you have to accept that you did NOTHING wrong. none of it was your fault. you deserved to be loved, and you still deserve that. once you have accepted this you can begin to heal.
you have done a good job with your own children and you should be proud of your self.
cut all connections with your brother.
maybe you reminded your mother of the still born baby. whatever the reason. it is NOT your fault.
oh! and please answer mine too!
waverider | Dec 24, 2009
It happens. It might have more to do with the sibling being a boy, than the fact he came after you did. I’ve seen this behavior in many "old world" families, 1st gen immigrants, etc. The boy is king. It is a prehistoric ignorant mindset, but it sadly still exists. It is less common among people with more American roots, mostly because it requires 2 parents of similar, sick mindset . You are less likely to find 2 American parents who favor their son than you are to find two foreign parents who do. The mindset that "daughters are bad luck" or "punishment" still exists in other countries. American families usually favor the daughter, if a choice is given. Unless they are obsessed with football or something.
Sorry for what you’ve gone through. Learn from it, and love both your children equally.
Merry Christmas

I don’t know what culture you are, but in some cultures the male gets to inher’t everything. Also in some cultures its like a big disappointment to have girls. ( i dunno if that could be it)
But it just sounds to me like your parents had issues, I don’t think it was anything you’ve done or said that could have caused such an extreme case. They’ve even turned your brother against you! I think you should seek out your younger brother and confront him about why he feels the way he does about you. If you can’t do this, find a friends of his that will help you accomplish this. Even tho you can’t ask your parents, i’m sure they wouldn’t have opened up enough to you to tell you. Your best bet of understanding this hate is from your brother. Tell him "have i wronged you? if so please let me what it was and what i can do to make it up to you. because your my brother and i love you, i just want to know why everyone feels this way about me, because i don’t know"

You did nothing wrong my friend…Having a child is a gift from God regardless of the baby’s gender…Now that your Birth mother has passed on she is now standing before God and has to answer to him..I’m so sorry for how u were treated…Stop going around feeling there is something wrong with you..or maybe god doesn’t love u either..There is a reason for everything..God has a plan for you..and what u went through was really a lesson to get u ready for something…Please keep on being a good mom to your kids…Trust in God that u are a very special lady in his eyes…And on the lighter side…the reason why god gave us friends is to apologize for the family that we have..Merry Christmas hun

Your parents were sick people hon.I am sorry they mistreated you,by doing so they destroyed their own family.
I am sure you had behavior problems due to their behavior towards you which snow balled until it came to where it is at.
Stop dwelling on it now.We can not pick our parents, and they will answer to GOD for the lives they lived . Be grateful for what you have,a husband and children who love you.
Send your brother a letter explaining how you feel and why you feel the way you do.
I do not know why your dad deeded everything to your brother, maybe he took care of them in their old age?
Maybe it was part of their psychosis?
Maybe there was bad blood between you and the parents?I only know what little you have told me, but I do know this,if you keep living in the last, dwelling on what your parents DIDN’T do, then, you’ll miss the present and the future hon.

What is a straight 6ft Madagascar palm?
I have a straight 6ft. Madagascar palm, we don’t want it any more, to sharp….. How much are they worth?
Retailers can usually get $350 to $500 for one that size.
That doesn’t mean you’ll get that price. It will only be worth the amount that someone is willing to pay you. Since you’re not a nursery, I doubt anyone would be willing to pay you the same that it costs at a store.
You might start by putting an ad on craigslist and seeing if anyone is interested.
Cat | Nov 22, 2009
I don’t believe anyone can give you a "true price" without seeing a picture first.
These palms are in "High Demand"
I would get a nice photo and take it down to a high-end nursery. They might be most interested in buying it or doing a trade with you.
Just in case… you don’t know all parts of the plant is poisonous if ingested.
There is money to be made if you want to save the seeds and sell them.
You might want to check on line because I do know there is a waiting
list for seeds. My best friend has a nursery.
In case you would like to do this.. this is what you would need to do.
Bag seed heads to capture riping seed.
Allow pod to dry on plant
Gently open to collect the seed
allow seeds heads to dry on plant
remove and collect
Seeds do not store well so if you do want to sell them or
then sow as soon as possible.
You could also get in touch with a garden club or your
local arboretum
I’m sure there is a Madagascar Palm Society you could
get in touch with.
Since these are a pretty much care free plant you might want
to hang onto it and get the best price?

Demon Tree??? Mothus?? Crow?? Cut?
Please read the story to help u understand my question if u dont want to then whats a demon tree please be very descriptive? And does anyone know what a crow following u means? Also has anyone every heard of a demon named Mothus?
Ok so i have this friend he thinks he’s a demon but i thought he was just joking before cause he’s emo. But then from like 2 to 4am on Friday night (aka friday the 13th) he had this "episode". He got in a really bad fist fight with his friend his friend was all mest up but he only had a single cut on his face and it disappeared. Well after fighting for a long time he just stopped in the middle of the street and stared at everyone. Then he climed up onto the hood of the car and sat down. His hair went straght(it is normally curly) and his eyes turned red. And symbols appeared on his body. There was a demon tree and a picture of a crow and the letter M. He mentioned something about Mothus a shapeshifting demon crow??? idk anything about that. So one of his other freinds cut him with his knife to see if another cut would disapear. It didnt. The cut is small but it bleeds a lot and hurts like hell. Everytime he touches it he is overcome with rage. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? O ya and he had no memory of the night and he keeps forgetting where he is and the ppl around him. CAN ANYONE HELP?!?!?!?! And he keeps mentioning a demon tree. And he said a crow has been following him. And last night there was a crow on his fence staring into his window.
That is freaking scary. take him to a priest or exorcist
