Does Bruce Spence play 2 different charactors in "Mad Max 2" and "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" ?

It’s pretty odd that they would have him playing 2 different characters that are pilots (a Gyrocopter in 2 and a Plane in BT) and not make it a recurring role. He lives in the end of 2… Max doesn’t seem to recognize him when he first sees him in Beyond Thunderdome.
Did the director just really like him? I would understand why, he seems to fit in very well as a post apocalyptic pilot!
Anyone have anything to contribute to this?
I know they were different characters, but I’m looking for more details or commentary here…

My opinion
No. In Thunderdome neither character acknowledges each other in any way, and it seems clear therefore that Jebediah in Thunderdome is not meant to be the Gyro Captain character from Mad Max 2, otherwise we’d expect some sort of recognition between them. This is especially true when they first enter Thunderdome, and Jebediah is obviously trying to avoid Max because he has stolen his equipment, instead of going up and saying "hi" and apologising, which is what he should do if he recognises him from Mad Max 2. The end of Mad Max 2 tells that the Gyro Captain went north to live out his days, and if he did reappear somewhere else it seems the last person he’d be stealing from is Max.
Bruce Spence is a distinctive and well known Australian character actor, and it makes sense that they’d want to use him again for that particular part in Thunderdome. It’s just confusing for us, given that he’s already played a different character in another film in the series!
Plus Jebediah has really good teeth, which would have been kind of hard for the Gyro Captain to achieve.
Of course, my opinion could be totally wrong, so for your entertainment, here’s one of the more reasonable arguments I’ve had from the opposing side, courtesy of The Word Warrior:

"I believe that Bruce Spence’s characters, the Gyro captain and Jebediah, are one in the same. Jebediah stole from Max simply because he didn’t know who he was. Max’s face was masked. Considering that Max almost killed the Gyrocaptain for trying to steal his V-8, I’m not surprised that Jebediah didn’t try to get his attention after stealing his lorry and camels. As far as the Great Northern Tribe, nothing was ever said about him staying for the rest of his days. Obviously, the Gyrocaptain and Lusty Girl gave birth to Jebediah Jr. Perhaps she had died during childbirth or decided to stay with her "family" while the boys went out to trade.
George Miller did not cast Spence in his $12 million international film as a different character. Why would he cast him in a lead role for two consecutive sequels? Surely Miller would have changed his attributes for the third film. In the very first scene in Beyond Thunderdome we see Spence flying about in his plane, clearly connecting him with the flying Gyrocaptain of the previous movie. There just is no arguement to be made!"
Mike Jackson also pointed out that this isn’t the first time a possibly "confusing" re-casting of an actor has happened in a series of films:
"This is not the first time such casting choices have been made in films: a good example is the Dollars trilogy - Gian Maria Volonte plays the major, but completely unrelated, villians in the first two films; and Lee Van Cleef plays a major role as a hero in the second yet a villian in the third!. So I agree with you - different characters for Bruce Spence!"
Of course, there’s always Max Fairchild as well, who plays different characters in Mad Max and Mad Max 2.
Note that apparently at a talk / event George Miller and Terry Hayes confirmed that Bruce Spence is definitely a different character in the two films. I don’t know when this talk was given, so if anyone has further info on where this originates (or has the exact quote) please contact me.

the first semester of college, fall 09 in my english class there was a guy name Jovanny. it wasnt when the end of the semester we started talking. weird that we talked for the FIRST time in the end of the semester, anyways, it was great getting to know him. it was really something i didnt expect from him, i guess you really cant judge a book by its cover. well since the first day we hung out, there weren’t any other days that we wouldn’t see eachother, he was with me on new years eve at my house with my fam and soo on…BUT FYI WE ARENT OFFICIALY TOGETHER…we talked constantly, texted/call, saw eachother whenever we could, we took advantages when the weekend came..we found ourselves liking eachother ALOT. i found myself thinking about him 24/7 and when i did a smile appeared in my face, i re-read the textmessages he’ve sent me, they were so cute && sweet..i always got butterflyes when i see him and when were walking to eachother, i always remebered what we’ve done together and i always got so excited for the next time were going to be together……well the bad thing is that for some REASON i cant be myself as in (outgoing, down to earth, talkative..etc) how i really am in general !! it irritates sooo much, it kills me. and i know it bothers him too because DUH who wants to be with someone who cant conversate && chooose a place to go to on a date !! i knowww…..
yes he’ve asked me so many times, "why can’t you talk to me?" and yes i’ve answered him with the stupidess answer " i dont know " and i mean it, i dont know !! i literally tried to be myself ! i want to because isnt it good when you can just be yourself, act dumb , joke around and he’ll still find it cute….
well today was the first time we got kind of bothered of eachother….
after our class we met in this building so we can hangout together. since it was a beautiful sunny day we decided to go to jamba juice for smoothies then we went to this great park at the mountains…we’ve walked and goofed around, i love his company. while we were walking in the trail he randomly asked, " so tell me something " and my dumb self said i dont know… i could tell he got frustrated, && i understand him perfectly !! i would too !! he then started asking me why cant i talk to him like he could to me….. and yes he’s way different then i am. he’s very open, and outgoing && down to earth and i love that because im like that too but just not around him!!! i always compare myself with how i am with him and when im with other friends and i just cant figure it out !! i dont know if its a good thing or a bad thing…i always ask myself why am i like that with him if thats not how i really am in general !
and then after he asked me that , he started comparing himself with me … he started saying the negative things i do and how its the opposite with what he does… it bothered me hearing that, it frustrated and irritated me because its true…and i didnt like that at all …. he went on and on and then there was a paused… he asked if i was upset and i answered yeah… then i jjust got up and said lets get going … so we left, walking back where we came from.. it was quiet, the only sound was nature that surrouned us… i didnt know what to say as usual, i just wanted to breakdown and cry but i sucked it in until i got to my car and drove home.. he was comforting me by holding my hand , putting his arm around me/my waiste, kissing me cheek and telling me that he still really likes me and he knows that i really like him… i liked that but i just couldn’t stop being so dissapointed in myself…and it bothered how he went on and on about the negativites that i do… i get it ok , you donthave to keep rubbing it in !!
well when we were already exiting the park we had to go opposite ways now because we parked different directions since there werent enough parking spots i had to go farther up… we came to a stop and i gave him a hugged and went on myself.. i wanted to look back soooo bad just to see him one last time but tears started falling already and i knew he was looking back, i had the feeling so i didnt bother..when i was driving home i was on the highway and i recieved a text from him saying " ok i see how it is now.. you dont have to bother to tell me nothing anymore…" i didnt text him right away, i broke down & cried when i read it… i texted him back like 2 hours later asking him what he mean with that but he didnt reply… and i still havent gotten a response. i dont know whats going on with us right now, but im so sad && confused… i dont know why im this way… i know i have the fault for what happen… maybe girls just have hard time expressing themselves since were reallly sensitive then guys are..
k,so you were a totally different person before you started hanging out with this guy, now you cant seem to string two words together, so you are experiencing brain freeze for long periods of time ,., I get it.
What you can do to get back to your old self is try to figure out just what it is about him that has you tongue tied.. does he dominate the conversations to the point that when he asks you something you are still somewhere else or still hanging on his every word? does he say things that make you thing he is way smarter than you and that if you answer something or voice an opinion on something he is sure to let you know that either it is wrong or not important? you said that he goes on and on about how he is "positive" and you have negative qualities .,., people like that believe that they are way smarter, funnier, outgoing, and on and on.. You were doing just fine, thank you very much! before you started hanging out with him so much, you were everything you were happy to be.. so,here is some solid advice.. take a break from spending soooo much time with him ,spend some time with the friends you left in the dust to be with him so much.. you need affirmations of your feelings and you need people you are comfortable enough around that you CAN be yourself. You are not being true to you ,you are trying to find a way to be someone else that you think would he would love… because i think you are indeed in love with him … you have some deep thinking to do to figure out if being with him is better than being who you have been all your life. to silence your mind to the point that you subconsciously believe that when you open up and talk it will not meet with his approval and he will tell you what he thinks and believes to be correct.. you were positive,.,.go back to you…

I am pretty certain my exgirlfriend is pregnant. I need some advice?
Here is a little background on the dilemma. Sorry for making you read all this but I think it is important to understand the problem.
I started dating this girl about 9 months ago. When we met I wasn’t sure where the relationship was going since she had a 3-year-old daughter and I wasn’t sure how that was going to play out but we kicked it off real well and I really liked her so I thought I would give the relationship a try. After a few months I realized that I wasn’t completely comfortable with her daughter but I didn’t give up because I figured it would take some time to get used to her and I really really liked this girl. Well 8 months passed and the situation wasn’t getting any better so we decided to break up but we found it hard to let go so for like a month and a half we kept talking to each other and were still intimately involved. About 3 weeks ago we were together one last night and couple of days later we decided that we couldn’t be like that anymore and we finally let go. I have really strong feelings for her but I wasn’t ready to play the dad role or for the family setting.
Well a few days ago I find out she might be pregnant. Last time we were together we didn’t use any protection but I didn’t finish at all. Her period is more than a week late. She took two pregnancy tests one came out negative and one positive so she scheduled an appointment with a doctor and we’ll know for sure if she is pregnant or not. But I am pretty sure she is.

RUSS SALVATORE’S NEW PLACE GRAND

A little history first. Russell Salvatore is the septuagenarian brain behind the ever-popular Salvatore’s Italian Gardens. He opened it in 1967 and built it into one of the most famous, albeit gaudy venues in Western New York. Salvatore’s hosted locals and stars with the same aplomb and graciousness. Children and adults alike couldn’t wait to go to Salvatore’s during the holidays to gawk at the animated decorations.
As he was getting up in years, Russell signed his assets over to his children, who today continue to manage the hotel and restaurant empire that Russell built. The ever-energetic Russell tried the retiree routine, but found he was bored. He decided to build a hotel and restaurant exactly one mile south of Salvatore’s on Transit.
We entered the lobby of the hotel and were greeted by the receptionist. I was surprised at the elegance of the decor — contemporary, but set amid a patchwork of antiques.
The bar is warm, richly appointed and very comfortable. There are several small granite-topped tables on a banquette to the right — far enough away from the bar crowd to enjoy a romantic conversation. This is a great spot to watch a football game on the large plasma screen TV.
There are three dining areas and a small banquet space. Each room is decorated with lovely contemporary wall hangings. The waitstaff, garbed in tuxes, was flawlessly attentive.
An ample supply of freshly baked bread was provided with three toppings: whipped and honey butters and a fantastic tangy tapenade.
We ordered four appetizers: calamari fritto with remoulade and fra diavolo sauces, bacon-wrapped scallops with shrimp, clams a la Russell in a delicate tomato broth, and artichokes francaise.
Each portion was generous and delicious; however, the artichokes were stunning. They were lightly breaded and sauteed in a garlic lemon butter. One could taste the romano in the batter, the lemon and the garlic, but none of these flavors overpowered the artichoke itself. The crust was perfectly sauteed, not mushy and not caked. Yummy.
Three of us ordered Caesar salads, and two had the soup of the day, cream of butternut squash soup. It was a pleasure having fresh Caesar salad dressing. Mine came with extra anchovies just as I ordered. The soup was rich and tasty, perfect on this cool fall evening.
For our entrees, three ordered steaks. All steaks are prime cuts and none is tenderized with spicy rubs. What you get is simply the best cut of meat available and not disguised by flavors that you may or may not like. Love it.
One ordered the 22-ounce bone-in ribeye — a monster of a piece of meat. Unbelievably, a 32-ounce was available on the daily specials menu. Another ordered the filet mignon, and the last the goat cheese-crusted 10-ounce filet mignon in a port wine glace de veau. All of these dishes were extraordinary. The goat cheese-crusted filet was out of this world. Seriously exceptional.
The other three entrees were good, but nothing compared to the steaks: broiled Chilean sea bass with braised rapini, sun dried tomatoes, butter beans and crispy parma prosciutto; provimi veal chop oscar charbroiled and topped with crabmeat, asparagus and bearnaise sauce; and shrimp scampi sauteed in garlic, white wine and butter.
Believe me, each of these was wonderful — but next time I’m going for the steak!
Several side dishes, each serving two people, are available. We didn’t have room for any, but they sound wonderful: lobster mac and cheese, graham cracker onion rings and jumbo sweet potatoes are just a few.
For dessert, several ordered the cannoli foster stuffed with mascarpone cheese and served with caramelized bananas, but the winner was the sampling of three creme brulees. They were beautifully plated and tasted wonderful. Flavors were pumpkin, vanilla and coconut.
The “Dining for Two” option at $35 per person is a great value. It includes a choice of first course, personal side, entree and dessert with coffee or tea.
Two combination hotel and restaurant special offers are also available. Russell’s Escape Package includes one night in a beautifully appointed standard guest room with dinner for two from the options menu and breakfast from the morning buffet at $139 per couple. The Grand Jacuzzi Package offers one night in a Jacuzzi suite with dinner for two from the options menu and breakfast from the morning buffet at $189 per couple ($139 on Sundays).
Is it worth the drive? Absolutely! This is a first-class establishment that is comfortable and wonderfully appointed, with gracious waitstaff and fabulous food. It may be the best steak house in Western New York. Russell is on site every evening and greets his guests warmly and personally.
It is pricey, but not for the level of service that you receive. This is a special occasion destination. Save up for it — you won’t be sorry!

What does my dream mean? I was kidnapped but not scared at all?
I had this dream where i was taken in by a guy my age to be his "sex slave." It was the middle of the night, and I was somehow persuaded by him to become his slave because i didnt want him to hurt me or my family, and i was terrified. He only wore jeans, was shirtless, and had a mean, nasty, and scary attitude. He carried me and he started running, then everything faded out and next thing i knew we were in a tennis court at my local pool where my mom usually plays tennis. There was a hut/tent thing in the corner of the court, and it was dark except for that everything was almost a tint/shade of blue because of the night. I remember him saying "this is your new home" and i looked up and the moon was brighter than usual. but, all the plants and trees outside the tennis court were darker and not affected by the moonlight. I was still scared, but at that moment i felt a weird attraction to the guy and he suggested that we go to sleep.
the next "morning", it was for some reason still the middle of the night. he never "used" me like he planned to, and never mentioned it again, but i was always a little nervous in case he changed his mind. then i wandered around outside the tennis court while the guy went off to do some work or whatever. i met a gardener, who was the only other person i’d seen so far, who told me that the guy really cared about me. i was surprised because he was always so mean to me, and didnt believe it. then the dream faded out again and then some time passed where nothing at all happened. then i remember going back to the tennis court really happy because i had come to believe what the gardener said, but i didnt want to talk to the guy because i was afraid he’d erupt into a bad mood and change his mind about using me. then next thing i knew, i was somehow in a building next to the tennis court where the guy who kidnapped me was fighting some monster who was half man half dog. i was lying on the floor just staring up and watching them in terror. he kept yelling at me to run for the open door, and i knew that i should, but i just couldnt. then when i finally stood up, the dream ended before i reached the door.
what does this dream mean? i woke up feeling elated even though i should be terrified of becoming a slave… haha

Will covering the bark of my tree kill it?
I have a eucalyptus tree in my backyard about 8 ft tall still a baby. my terrier dog is really destructive and has been biting the tree bark and im afriad its going to kill it. so i covered the bark of the tree with a cloth so she won’t bite it. my question is will covering the bark of the tree with the cloth kill the tree? the top of the tree still has plenty of light and i give it plenty of water i just want to protect the bark of the tree. she hasn’t bitten it so bad that its breaking through or anything but she gnawed a good chunk of it. i heard that spraying the tree with vinegar mixed with water will give a smell that the dog won’t like so it won’t go near it. Any help will be appreciated.
Shouldn’t hurt it, the nutrients and sugars move down from the leaves and stems… It should be able to breath though. Burlap works really good for tree wrap, dry’s out with the sun and will not rot the wood. Depending on the diameter you could wrap it with plastic cuffs they sell at Lowe’s or Home Depot… but usually those are for very small diameter. Won’t kill the tree if you don’t wrap it too tight, allow a bit of give for the new bark to grow underneath.
They sell some rabbit repellent that is in a powder that small animals hate the smell of… won’t kill the animals but keeps away from gardens and stuff. I think it’s made by a company called hav-a-heart but they sell that in Garden shops too, probably 12 bucks for a small container. Bayer makes some too. Check pet stores and they might even carry a dog-repellent type powder or spray.
That would work around the base of the tree but all the smell products wash away in the rain.
If you catch the dog in the act, then go out and immediately correct it and use a firm "no", I’d give mine a swap too but I don’t want to come off sounding like an animal abuser… they learn pretty quick though, and it IS just a dog. (I said a "swap", not "punch", or "full on slap", or "kick"
