So I was mugged what should I do?
Yesterday I was walking to get a sandwich, and suddenly I was surrounded by 12 or 13 guys (all huge black guys easily 6′0+, but all to pussy that they had to have a huge group) and they told me to give them everything I had. One then punched me in the stomach. I thought they were going to stab me or something, so I just gave em the 25 bucks I had. This happened right outside my school, so I told the useless security guards drinking their coffee, and they called the cops. I filed a report for the hell of it.

But now I dont know if that’s such a good idea. If they are caught and they ask me to identify one of them, are they locked up, or are they free to go until their court case or whatever? I dont want them coming back to get me if they have some time to walk free. add that to the fact that when I was looking through the pictures of felons at the precinct, i saw a few of them and they were already convicted of things such as assault, robbery and ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FIREARM. WHY ARE THEY WALKING AROUND AND NOT IN JAIL THEN.

so what should I do? should I say i don’t remember what they look like if they ask me to identify one of em?

thanks!
Thanks for the answers. I dont know why I mentioned race. I didnt really think about it, and black people are usually physically bigger and stronger than others (at least here in new york). But I am not racist, so sorry if I offended anyone, even though I didnt say anything bad about them.

and screw you, Drea Will Save U Ho and Lucy LaLa!!!!!!

1. Don’t freak out!!
2. Definentaly identify them, they will get a fine, arrested, or something.
3. After there found/caught, they are not let free until court, but put in a detention center (different from jail, nor as rough, hard, etc. u get the point…)
4. Good Luck.

Why are creatures of todays world so small compared to millions of years ago?
I was just looking at stuff about dinosaurs and realized they were sooo friggin huge….and up until present day creatures seem so large…why did we all shrink? The biggest creatures on land are the giraffe, elephant, rhinos, alligators…then in water we got sharks, other huge ass fish..whale…squid….they’re pretty big but not as big as creatures back then. Why?

It’s called evolution.
It takes over a hundred or maybe even a thousand years to create an evolution…Hehe, well, I’m not exactly great at explaining things,
I’m also taking biology too.

How do you get a child to eat?? Very concerned!?
I’m sorry this is going to be a little long.. but we are pretty concerned…

My stepson is one of the pickiest kids I have ever met when it comes to eating. There are literally only 3 or 4 things he will eat.. besides junk food, candy, chips, etc. He will eat peanut butter with no jelly, chicken nuggets and fries, grilled cheese, apple sauce, pizza with no toppings or sauce just crust, and he’ll eat mashed potatoes and corn occasionally.. and they have to be together, and mac and cheese if it’s in the little kraft instant bowls. Now with these things.. they all have to be cut certain ways.. and can’t be in any other form.. like he won’t eat the same kraft mac and cheese if we make it from the box.. has to be in the container, only kind of cheese he’ll eat is cheese slices.. and he’ll eat honey nut cheerios. That is the extent of it.. unless it’s cookies and candy. We know his mother gives into him and let’s him eat junk all day long.. she says "he’s just a snacker".

I’m afraid he isn’t getting the nutrients he needs. He will literally starve himself and hold out til snack time or he gets what he wants. He never eats any of the lunches at daycare they tell us… He won’t eat anything I cook for dinner unless it’s one of the above items… and even then you never know. We always try to give him something.. so he gets something in his tummy. We’ve tried everything…. if you put the plate in front of him.. he’ll sit at the table til we’re done and eat nothing… even trying to not let him have anything else til the next meal if he doesn’t eat. Nothing works. We think most of it comes from the habits at his moms.

We have them on the weekends and I always try to make lunches for them that he will eat.. then cook something good for dinner and try to include mashed potatoes and corn and apples so he’ll eat… trying to get him to eat healthy.. not giving him any junk food unless he eats his other food… we try to please him to some extent because I think he’s still to young to really understand the whole concept… like I said he just holds out til later.. We can’t force him to eat.. he will throw a fit and scream like he’s terrified of it as if it were a terrible monster or something!

But it’s getting pretty bad… this past week he’s been acting very off. Last weekend he wouldn’t even eat the lunches I made him.. things he normally eats.. He is 4 and is getting to the point where he won’t take naps anymore.. his younger brother is a sleeper and will always take long naps.. and most the time he just lays there for a bit til we just tell him to go ahead and get up. But last weekend, he was sleeping like crazy.. longer than his brother even.. and he’d wake up all lethargic acting.. yawning.. last Saturday night… at dinner.. I made him a plate and he wouldn’t eat at all.. he just laid his head on the table.. and acting like he didn’t feel good. I asked him if he was ok.. he said yes.. but he wanted to lay down. He felt a little warm… but nothing major. We asked him if his tummy hurt.. he said no.. he’s usually very honest when he feels bad. I gave him a little childrens motrin since he felt like he had a little fever.. and he perked up a bit… but he went to bed that night with no fight.. and slept very well.. a bit unusual for him! He acted that way again Sunday.. wouldn’t eat hardly anything.. but acted fine.. wanted to play games and go to church and everything. But, by evening he was acting the same way. I ended up giving him a pb sandwich just so he would get some protein and it helped him a bit.

Monday he went back to his moms.. and we didn’t hear anything from her all week.. my husband picks them up today. She texted to let us know that the daycares were closing early because of weather.. so he called her to see what was going.. and she told him that she picked him up already because the daycare called and said he was freaking out.. just not acting like himself.. he’s not throwing up and he has no fever, just acting strange.. she said he came home and went to sleep.. she went on to tell him he’s kinda been acting that way all week. Very similar to last weekend. He’s constantly tired and acting "off". Very lethargic. I’m starting to think it’s his nutrition… he’s not getting what he needs.. he almost never eats.. probably the equivelant of 1 meal a day.. spread out over the day.. I know she lets them eat junk all the time. So I’m just curious what others think of this.. and what you would do or if any of you have experienced anything like this?

I’m sorry it’s so long.. but any help would be greatly appreciated.. It seems like it’s getting worse.. and it seems like it’s starting to effect him badly. Do you think I’m right in thinking this? Is there anything we can do? Let me know what you think… thanks so much!!
He acts fine as far as playing and everything… but just very tired..wanting to sleep. He went to school all week until this morning.. they sent him home because he was freaking out.. not sure what was up with him.. no fever or throwing up.. it’s been going on a week.
alicia… we don’t let him run the show.. his mom does. I only give him the option of what we eat.. I just try to incorporate something he will eat that is healthy.. and we have tried what you suggested.. it doesn’t work with him. We tried it for months.. he would just hold out and starve himself.. and we can’t let him do that. I think you need to read the whole thing. He needs nutrition. Going without food will just make him sick.
I have to say.. I’m almost a little concerned that he has a touch of autism.. based on some other behaviors he has. .. i’ve worked with them before being a preschool teacher.. but I can’t bring this up even to my husband.. because he gets defensive and says nothing is wrong with him.. I don’t want to overstep my boundaries as a stepparent. But I dont’ know if this could be some of the problem. The child won’t try anything new at all… and even if it’s the same thing he likes in a different form.. like say pizza in squares instead of triangles.. he won’t eat it. I’ve seen lots of very picky kids.. but never anythign like this.. I’m just concerned for him.

Has he seen a doctor? That should be your first step. My daughter had trouble gaining weight and she was very picky. Even the things she liked she wouldn’t eat much of. She had to have a feeding tube to get her weight up. Most of the times kids will eat when they get hungry, but sometimes they don’t. His behavior being off is also a concern. I would take him to the doctor and possible the emergency room. Very lethargic is not a good sign in a child that age.
kat | Feb 05, 2010

First of all, it’s perfectly normal for children to go through phases where they will eat nothing but chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, fish sticks, PB&J, etc. Something I found that helped us while our daughter was going through this stage (for 3 years) was that I picked up a children’s cookbook at a Scholastic book fair at her preschool. It’s the Disney Magic Kitchen Cookbook (http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Magic-Kitch en-Cookbook/dp/0696237326). We allowed our daughter to help pick out a dinner menu for two nights a week using this cookbook. It improved her eating habits by far, and you can hide things in many of the dishes so they don’t even know they’re in there. Shredded carrots and chunks of other veggies made their way into some of our cooking unnoticed. Sometimes giving a child some control over the menu will enable them to bravely try new foods. You might also get him a little set of his own cooking utensils to get him excited about it, or maybe a little apron or something. I don’t know how old he is, but I do know that kids love getting into gear for special activities.

You probably should take your stepson to the doctor, but I do believe that you are correct in assuming that the bad eating habits are stemming from the mother’s house. If I was in this situation, I would have my husband sit down and talk with the mother to tell her that she needs to enforce a healthier diet and eating habits. If she won’t comply or refuses to listen, then it is appropriate to seek outside assistance and possibly get full custody with restricted visitation.

Until then, your best bet is to make sure your stepson is taking some sort of vitamin. You can make a deal with him if you have to, but it’s important that you cover your bases if he isn’t eating enough to cover 2 meals a day. A vitamin obviously won’t replace calories for growing, but it will probably combat the lethargy and mood issues. My daughter loves those gummy vitamins they sell at Wal-Mart, they come in Finding Nemo, Disney Princess and Cars shapes, I think. (If you can’t tell, she’s determined to keep the Disney franchise going single-handedly.)

I hope you find a solution soon, you must be at the end of your rope. I think it’s awesome that you care so much for your stepson, which shows in your intense concern in this post. A lot of little kids aren’t as lucky to have a stepparent like you. :) Liz | Feb 05, 2010

I didn’t read all of that, but enough to know that you guys are letting him run the show. The parents/adults/caregivers are supposed to be in charge and know what is best. Stop letting a one year old run the show. Make well rounded meals and provide them at meal time. If the child won’t eat, he isn’t hungry enough. Let him down from the table and don’t offer any more food until the next meal time…offer what you’ve made, if he doesn’t eat, down he goes. No more offer until the next meal time. A couple days of this and he’ll eat what he is given because he’ll quickly learn that when he is hungry he must eat the food he is given.

If you feel like something is off then you should defiantly try and get him into the Dr. I would be concerned too, and you most certainly wouldn’t want him to become diabetic.
Me, again | Feb 05, 2010

Doctor visit should be step number 1.

Step number 2 would be getting Mom on the same page that you 2 are — if you try to install good values and enforce rules at your house, when he goes to spend the week with Mom and she is completely opposite, it’s going to be difficult for your son to learn how to follow rules. It’s very important for both sets of parents to be on the same page when time is spent equally at both homes.

A child will not starve themselves to death. If given the option at snack time to eat whatever he wants, of COURSE he is going to refuse to eat him meals and hold out for snack.

When my son came to live with us 4 years ago (he’s my step son, lived with his mother but now she only sees him for like 3 hours every other weekend — he lives with us completely full time) we had an awful time getting him to eat. We laid down the law and told him he had to eat what we cooked — PERIOD. The ONLY excepts to this rule were:
1. If it’s a non-veggie/fruit side dish, he doesn’t have to eat it if he hates it. For instance, he despises mashed potatoes and we don’t force him to eat those because they aren’t a health food. He also dislikes broccoli, but if that is part of our dinner he DOES have to eat that.

2. He made the choice to be a vegetarian, so we do not force him to eat meat. Whenever we have meat in our meal though, he does have to eat a veggie-meat product, like tofu dogs, or protein nuggets so we ensure he’s getting the proper nutrition.

3. 2 nights a week, we allow him to eat whatever he wants for dinner. He’ll usually choose a bowl of cereal, or some toast with a fruit cup, etc.

When we first instilled this rule, it took him about a week (at age 5) to eat properly. He was never made to finish the food on his place because we think that causes potential obesity by forcing a child to over eat, but he did need to eat a reasonable amount of food. The first 2 nights, he must have sat at that table refusing to eat for 2 hours. We told him he wasn’t allowed to get up and play until he ate x amount of bites. Or, if he didn’t want to eat at all he was welcome to go to bed.

Some people may find this cruel, but you know what? It works. After about a week he NEVER gave us grief about eating anymore, at all. He gets the proper amount of nutrition because he realizes that if he doesn’t eat what is prepared for him, he doesn’t get to eat, period. If he refused to eat his veggies at lunch, you bet your butt that there is no way in h*ll I’d let him have whatever he wanted for snack that afternoon.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little tough parenting. I’d definitely see a doctor about the nutrition though.

Good luck.

if he continues to get worse you should take the kid to see a doctor.it’s natural for a mother to think that something is wrong with their child if a situation like this ever comes up on them.when you take him to a doctor be sure to explain every detail to the doctor so he can get the full picture of what is going on.i feel truly bad and hope that everything works out and he starts to get the nutrition he needs.

I have 2 boys 4 and 5. Heres are rules. They work pretty well.

We give them a balanced supper - maybe 3 or 4 things. Its pretty simple like nooodles or bread, a meat or eggs, pb, a cooked veggie, and a fresh fruit..

They have to eat all of one thing, and at least 1 bite of each of the other . In order to get dessert.
They have to eat everything if they want seconds of anything.

You could also make a point chart - like a bingo card :)
They also help me cook alot.
lillilou | Feb 05, 2010

Ok…I admit it…I didn’t read it all…but from what I’ve read…it’s CRYSTAL CLEAR that this 4 year old…is running the show.

Throw out ALL THE JUNK he doesn’t need ANY JUNK and if there isn’t any laying around there won’t be any to "hold out for"

Get him on a multi vitamin, probably one with iron in it since it looks like even when he does eat, he’s not getting any meat or any veggies with a significant iron content. He could very well be anemic….that would explain the lethargy.

BITE THE BULLET and over take the toddler. My son will eat what he’s given and that’s how it’s always been. If he had his way he would eat nothing but cookies and candy…but guess what?? He’s a child…he doesn’t get to have his way.

I’m sorry, but letting a child endanger themselves this way…is irresponsible. Take him to the doctor, make sure he’s ok and then sack up and take control of the situation.

This kid needs to eat and if he’s willing to eat garbage then it’s clear that we aren’t talking about a food aversion or an eating disorder…we’re talking about a wilfull little kid that has his parents conned.

#1 The rule in our house is "you don’t have to like it, but you have to try it" so you put 10 different things on his plate and make him taste each one…He thinks he’s winning because he didn’t have to clear his plate or eat the whole pile…but he got ten bites of food in him because you made him try all ten things.

#2 Don’t "negotiate with terrorists" - You’re going to sit here until you eat this this and this. Period.

#3 Don’t cater to the lunacy….mac n cheese that has to be in a particular container??? Hello… I wouldn’t ever play that game …but if you aren’t willing to fight that fight…then you keep one of those stupid little bowls and wash it and use it as his dish. Make whatever mac&cheese you want and put it in the bowl when you serve his dinner.

Come on guys…he’s 4…you guys should be able to outsmart him.
?Silly 2? Due 3/17/2010 | Feb 05, 2010

You need to get this little guy to a Dr. quickly. I would be concerned he had meningitis, or Mono or some kind of infection. Possibly an iron deficiency. I don’t think anyone would question you, if you took him to the emergency room, for that matter. I would definitely get him in today.
Since you can’t control what his mom does at her house, just let him know the rules at your house. The picky eating really is a common thing with a lot of young kids. I would start giving him a gummy vitamin, like the others have suggested. You’re doing the right thing by making meals and including one or two things you know he’ll eat with it. That’s what I do with my own young kids. If they want dessert, they have to take one bite of everything on their plate. If they choose not to eat then that’s their choice but, all I give them is a glass of milk or Pediasure at the very end of the day (Carnation Instant Breakfast is almost identical to Pediasure if you read the ingredients and nutrition and it’s a lot cheaper).
My heart goes out to you, because it sounds like you’re doing everything right, but without his mom cooperating, she’s basically sabotaging all your efforts with him. He needs everyone to be consistent so he’s not holding out for empty calories and snacks. Hopefully, the doctor will give you some good ideas, and get the attention of this little boys mom and let her know she needs to take his eating habits way more seriously. Hope he’s feeling better soon! Good luck.

You would have been done sooner if you had used the film or TV series, because it’s all pretty much the same. Or a quick trip to Barnes & Noble would have sufficed. Especially if you had gone to www.pbs.org. Here some quotes straight from the book:

Mr. Bennet treated the matter differently. "So, Lizzy," said he one day, "your sister is crossed in love I find. I congratulate her. Next to being married, a girl likes to be crossed in love a little now and then. It is something to think of, and gives her a sort of distinction among her companions. When is your turn to come? You will hardly bear to be long outdone by Jane. Now is your time. Here are officers enough at Meryton to disappoint all the young ladies in the country. Let Wickham be your man. He is a pleasant fellow, and would jilt you creditably." "Thank you, Sir, but a less a agreeable man would satisfy me. We must not all expect Jane’s good fortune."

South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut OR Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story?
South Park is definitely better and the movie is hilarious no matter how many times I watch it. I don’t find Family Guy funny anymore, just lame. The first two or thee seasons were good but now their just using anything to be funny when it’s not. The movie was also kind of boring and like the third time I watched it I didn’t laugh at anything.
wtf, why are you reporting me ? this was a legitimate question. i can give you a reason to report me if you want.

I agree. I like the Family guy shows, but the movie was a bit long and boring.

South Park has worn itself out with me a little bit. But back when it was new and fresh it was the greatest thing I’d ever seen in controvercial prime time TV. They even got away with using the S word in the "words of curse" episode.

I think it’s not really the same kind of show as the family guy though.

It would be kinda like comparing The Wonder years to Friends.

The oven in the rented property is not working. Should we pay the full rent?
Professional cleaners sent by agents tried to clean the oven but could not. It is that dirty than I am disgusted to cook in it. It looks as it has never been cleaned.
We payed the full rent but our oven has never been used because it was very dirty. The agents said that because it was that dirty they could not clean it. Do we have any rights to ask for a rent reduction?
Thanks.

Is it working or not? Being dirty does not mean it doesn’t work. Have you tried cleaning it?

You can’t stop paying you must tell the landlord about it if it doesn’t work and give him time to get it repaired.

When people suddenly have a problem paying the rent they suddenly find things with faults!
Now how much of a rent reduction do you think you should get?
If you moved in knowing the condition of the oven why are you suddenly complaining?

Depends on your agreement. If it includes the oven in your inventory it must be working. Being dirty is not the same as not working.

You can always ask, but that doesn’t mean they will reduce the rent.

How long have you lived there? The time to have addressed the situation was before move in. You accepted the apartment with the dirty oven. As the other poster asked; is it dirty or does it not work? If it is dirty, and always has been, you could have been more insistent on a cleaned oven at that time. Have you cleaned it and found it to be not working? If so, contact the rental agent and ask to have it fixed.

Not having an oven is not a threat to your well being. You cannot withhold rent because of it.

What is a straight 6ft Madagascar palm?
I have a straight 6ft. Madagascar palm, we don’t want it any more, to sharp….. How much are they worth?

Retailers can usually get $350 to $500 for one that size.

That doesn’t mean you’ll get that price. It will only be worth the amount that someone is willing to pay you. Since you’re not a nursery, I doubt anyone would be willing to pay you the same that it costs at a store.

You might start by putting an ad on craigslist and seeing if anyone is interested.

I don’t believe anyone can give you a "true price" without seeing a picture first.

These palms are in "High Demand"

I would get a nice photo and take it down to a high-end nursery. They might be most interested in buying it or doing a trade with you.

Just in case… you don’t know all parts of the plant is poisonous if ingested.

There is money to be made if you want to save the seeds and sell them.
You might want to check on line because I do know there is a waiting
list for seeds. My best friend has a nursery.

In case you would like to do this.. this is what you would need to do.
Bag seed heads to capture riping seed.
Allow pod to dry on plant
Gently open to collect the seed
allow seeds heads to dry on plant
remove and collect

Seeds do not store well so if you do want to sell them or
then sow as soon as possible.

You could also get in touch with a garden club or your
local arboretum

I’m sure there is a Madagascar Palm Society you could
get in touch with.

Since these are a pretty much care free plant you might want
to hang onto it and get the best price?

Oliver twist charles dickens …?
What is your first impression of 19t century workhouses according to oliver twist by charles dickensv?

do u think this is ok ;
according to the 19th century novel, oliver twistby charles dickens my first impression of the workhouses in 1800 are that they are strict and conceal the life of a child into a small compact shell. overall, the workhouses were very harsh which made the children to starve for a normal life, something diffrent, a little bit more. which is what every child longed for, especially oliver twist.
